Since the lead frame is the main conduit by which heat flows from the chip to the printed circuit board, PEI tailors the manufacturing material so that it will maximize the device’s operating life for any given application or environment.

PEI manufactures high-density lead frames with acute profiles and ultra-fine pitches, allowing for high pin counts. Single- or double-sided lead frames can be etched without incurring the stresses associated with typical machining methods. More importantly, PEI’s process can be used for lead frames that are too complicated for stamping. Dimensions can be held to extremely tight tolerances, with no burrs or other surface irregularities.

PEI’s lead frames range in thickness from 0.5 mil [0.0127 mm] to 40 mil [1.575 mm], with features as small as 4 mil [0.10 mm] on 0.010 in. [0.254 mm] centers, creating lead frames that are strong enough to be handled yet flexible enough to allow bending when necessary.

A significant advantage of photochemical etching is the ability to reproduce large quantities of parts without tooling “wear,” so the millionth part is exactly the same as the first part. Changes to tools can be implemented very quickly, and phototools are significantly less expensive than traditional tooling methods—ideal for manufacturing plates from prototype to production quantities. Turnaround time using phototools is about 10% of that for stamped frames.

Organizations on average manage two or more Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Document Management (DM) or Records Management (RM) systems according to a new survey conducted by AIIM. Even with multiple systems in place, approximately half of content is held in non-ECM/DM systems, and a stunning 82 percent of firms lack an enterprise-wide ECM solution.

AIIM’s research, “ECM at the Crossroads,” looks at the ECM installed base as companies wrestle with content management challenges in the face of of evolving business priorities, mobile access, cloud, social and email management, as well as, industry-specific requirements and spending plans. Of the 538 survey respondents only 18 percent have implemented a company-wide ECM solution. While an additional 36 percent say they are working toward a central ECM solution, many questions remain across the board.

Where there was once a clear roadmap for ECM – migrate all the content into a centralized system – there is now uncertainty about the best way to achieve such key goals as universal access to information, comprehensive compliance and information governance controls, cost efficiency and greater collaboration. As new technologies have emerged, information professionals are at a crossroads both at a macro decision level and at a more granular level around issues such as how to grant access to mobile devices or move content into the cloud.

“The industry has experienced such rapid change over the past few years that enterprises are finding it difficult to adapt and still deal with the explosion of dynamic content,” said AIIM President John Mancini. “With the rise of the service economy, information is a strategic asset that needs to be managed centrally, but the reality is far more complex with content spread across multiple ECM systems and file shares as well as in ERP, HR and Finance systems. In today’s business world, companies that can improve their approach to content management will rise to the top.”

Information sharing and collaboration is a key priority with 64 percent of respondents acknowledging the importance of the corporate knowledge base. Even with strong interest and steady advances in search technologies, the ability to track down information from across an organization is very much a work in progress. According to respondents, more than half of all their content resides outside the ECM system, making search and access a pervasive problem, while also raising concerns about information sprawl.

There’s no question that poor access to information is a major problem, exacerbated by the fact that most content strategies are still in the PC-era. Even though mobile devices have gained nearly universal acceptance, only 11 percent of the respondents give their users a mobile-optimized browser interface to their ECM and only 10 percent offer some sort of mobile apps.

When it comes to the cloud, AIIM’s survey results indicate that companies are taking an incremental approach. Using the cloud for ECM is often considered an all or nothing decision – and few organizations are fully embracing the cloud or Software as a Service for all their content – but many are willing to move certain ECM applications individually to the cloud. Leading the way, somewhat surprisingly, was records management with 14 percent already doing it and 33 percent considering it. To be sure, reservations about the cloud remain, with 46 percent saying they are unlikely to deploy any cloud-based content.

Other key findings in the AIIM report include:

•     ECM is primarily used for document management or file-share replacement by 78 percent, records management for 66 percent and collaboration for 46 percent.
•     Although only 3 percent of organizations have turned off file-share, 12 percent have largely replaced it with ECM and 34 percent plan to turn it off.
•     For 45 percent mobile access to content is very important or vital.
•     More than one in four organizations face a dilemma with their cloud strategy.
•     Users are more likely to build an internal social platform as part of on-premise ECM.
•     Spend on software licenses is set to increase in the next 12 months.

The portal is intended for all users, national and international, because the Ministry believes that with experience/examples from everyday life, one can help reduce administrative barriers for doing business in Slovenia.

In 2009 the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (RS) adopted the Programme of removing administrative barriers by 25% and analyzed the administrative barriers in regulatory systems currently in place. Due to a large number of new proposals from the professional and interested public, it became evident that an update was required. Therefore, in 2012, an updated program “minus 25” was adopted. The new program is even more determined on reducing both the administrative and regulatory barriers by 25%.

Matija Kodra, Head of Division for Smart Regulation and Reducing Administrative Burdens at the Ministry of Interior and Public Administration said, “In times of financial and economic crisis, the existing systems in Slovenia as well as in other European countries have shown many weak points. The recovery, therefore, requires deep structural and regulatory reforms, which will foster economic activity and increase growth.” This is the goal of the programme “minus 25.” It is also a way of making business life easier and will enable the citizens, business entities and public administration to save time and money. It aims to provide higher quality services as well as foster democratic co-operation and development.

The portal allows local citizens to contribute to the further gathering of proposals, which can reduce regulatory barriers and simplify processes. Users can express their opinion and submit suggestions/initiatives for the problems arising from rigid legislation. On the basis of collected suggestions/initiatives, an action plan for removing regulatory barriers is prepared yearly, systematically listing the actions of respective ministries, fields and rules and laying down the deadlines for implementation of those actions by the competent ministries. Slovenian politicians are aware of the importance of active implementation of legislation simplification and removing administrative barriers: the proof of this can be found in the report of the World bank – Doing Business from 2013 In that report Slovenia is ranked among the three countries of the EU which have made the most progress implementing the measures for simplification of business environment. This is the result of systematic and persistent implementation of measures from 2005 on.

The Ministry understands that it is crucial that their path to transfer good practices from the private sector into the public must be carried out with a cost-efficient and transparent use of public resources. The following projects are already being implemented:

– Further fulfillment of the action program to remove regulatory barriers,

– Update of legislation in the field of regulated activities and professions – deregulation,

– Refurbishment of physical one-stop shops,

– Implementation of operations in the framework of the Point of single contact (PSC): in the first step the PSC web portal will provide a simple, transparent and quick access to all necessary information for activities and professions. In the second phase it will offer the possibility of remote acquisition, via the internet, also cross-border, of the authorization. The effects will show a decrease of administrative burden on the economy, making a significant contribution to the establishment of a friendly business environment.
